The following is from AMA Pro Racing…

AMA Pro Racing announced today that two new events have been added to the 2007 AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship schedule. The two races are planned for June 2, at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., and Sept. 15, at Monticello Raceway in Monticello, N.Y. Both events will be half-mile GNC Twins races, bringing the total number of events in the two-championship series to 21.

AMA officials Bruce Bober and Steve Morehead were at Volunteer Speedway, a high-banked (32 degrees) 4/10-mile dirt oval on Dec. 12, for a test session. They and owner Joe Loven were encouraged by the results.

“With around 50 motorcycles the series will bring for a show, I believe the fans will really enjoy seeing a different type of racing here at ‘The Gap.’ No matter how you look at it … racing is racing … whether it be cars or motorcycles,” Loven said.

At Monticello, Buddy Ford Productions will be producing its first ever AMA Grand National event this year at the half-mile pea-gravel track.

“We’ve been promoting dirt track events in Canada for 20 years – more than 75 races in that span,” said ex-racer Buddy Ford. “We’re motivated more than ever to make this a huge event with the support of Moroney’s Harley-Davidson and Lombardi Harley-Davidson in New York. We want to get all the New York state Harley-Davidson dealers on board and make this into an annual happening.”
