Abbott/Esposito Top Terrible’s Town

Kawasaki Team Green teammates Destry Abbott and Shane Esposito combined efforts to win the Best in the Desert Series Terrible’s Town 250 and the $10,000 first-place cash that comes with it. The duo took the lead at the 72-mile mark and then rode off with the win.

“We knew there were four or five teams that were going to be really tough to beat here,” Abbott said. “We just had an awesome day. Shane went down once right towards the end – just slid out on a pavement section – but for the most part, everything went really well.”

Finishing second overall was the Ty Davis/Russell Pearson team, on the Montclair Yamaha-backed YZ426F. Davis, however, sacrafised a possible win by stopping to aid fallen rider Johnny Campbell, who crashed early in the race.

Third overall went to Yamaha riders Matt Gosnell and Nick Pearson, followed by Bet Bradford/Rob Phillips (KTM) and first Expert rider (and first Ironman) Christopher Blais, who rode a Honda.

As for Campbell, he spent the night in a local hospital with a suspected broken collarbone, shoulder and a possible hairline fracture of a vertarae.

Kariya spends way too much time in the desert, but we’re glad he does as he’s the man who gets us our coverage of all things sandy.
