Lafferty Four for Four

| April 2, 2001

Defending FMF National Enduro Champion Michael Lafferty continued his Carmichael-esque win streak yesterday in this year’s series, in which he remains undefeated. At the fourth round in Forest Hill, Louisiana, the KTM rider blitzed to another victory, besting Gas Gas riders Clay Boreing (from Arkansas) and Matt Stavish (from Minnesota). Taking fourth was Yamaha-mounted Randy Hawkins, and Rodney Judston rounded out the top five on yet another Gas Gas.

Lafferty now holds a commanding 69-point lead over Husqvarna-mounted Fred Hoess (eighth in Lousiana) in the points chase, 120-61. Hawkins is third with 57.

The enduro riders take a bit of a breather now, with the next round (of a total nine) set for Wellston, Ohio, on June 10. In the meantime, many of them will concentrate on the ISDE qualifiers, both of which take place before the next enduro national.
