One week after winning a National Hare Scrambles, Doug Blackwell rode his Yamaha YZ250 to his first win of the year in the Grand National Cross Country Series, finishing a few seconds ahead of Team Suzuki Off-Road’s newly healed Rodney Smith. It was the seventh round of the series, and it took place yesterday in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Smith’s teammate Steve Hatch was third, ahead of former champ Fred Andrews on a Kawasaki. Barry Hawk completed the top five on another Yamaha. Scott Summers took his Honda XR to sixth, one spot ahead of series points leader Shane Watts.
