Defending champion Brian Brown did everything he could to derail Kawasaki Team Green cohort Destry Abbott’s Hare & Hound win streak, but he came up half a wheel-length short at the fifth round of the series in Jericho, Utah, Saturday. The two raced across the finish line within inches of each other, then skidded to a stop and collapsed together in a laughing heap, slapping each other high fives.
Third place was taken by Yamaha’s Russ Pearson, with Shane Esposito taking fourth on another Kawasaki. Esposito then drove all night to make the last-ever Virginia City Grand Prix, where he won the overall the next day.
