The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team banished the demons of 2025 at Bol d’Or when their engine expired just a half an hour from the title by winning the final round of the 2026 FIM Endurance World Championship and securing BMW’s first EWC World Championship title.
The number 37 BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, with Markus Reiterberger, Steven Odendaal and Michael van der Mark sharing the BMW M 1000 RR, completed a record 742 laps of Circuit Paul Ricard in France to take victory after 24 hours of largely trouble-free running. The win also delivered the maximum points haul available at the season finale.
Yoshimura SERT Motul (Gregg Black, Etienne Masson and Dan Linfoot) finished second, one lap behind BMW, while YART Yamaha Official EWC Team’s Leandro Mercado, Marvin Fritz and Karel Hanika completed the overall podium a further lap adrift.
BMW entered the finale 19 points behind YART in the championship but overturned the deficit through pole position, victory and the maximum bonus points at the eight- and 16-hour checkpoints. The final championship margin was four points, with BMW finishing on 158 compared with YART’s 154.
F.C.C. TSR Honda France (Alan Techer, Corentin Perolari and John McPhee), finished fourth, eight laps behind the winning BMW. Kawasaki Webike Trickstar (Roman Ramos, Christian Gamarino, Gregory Leblanc) was fifth, 24 laps down.
In the final championship standings, BMW is the new EWC king on 158 points to YART Yamaha Official EWC Team’s 154 points. Yoshimura SERT Motul was third on 137. Kawasaki Webike Trickstar finished fourth on 105 points, with the top five rounded out by the Autorace Ube Racing Team of Naomichi Uramoto, Sylvain Guintoli, Hannes Soomer and Jeremy Guarnani on 64 points.CN
