Kyle Ryde (Ducati) strengthened his position at the head of the 2026 British Superbike Championship standings after a dramatic three-race opening to the Showdown at Assen, September 18-20.
Scott Redding (Ducati) began the weekend in commanding fashion, taking victory in Saturday’s opening race for Hager PBM Racing Team after moving through from fifth on the grid. Ryde recovered from an early setback to finish second, with Leon Haslam (Ducati) completing the podium.
Redding doubled his haul in Sunday’s second race, taking advantage of increasingly wet conditions before the race was red-flagged with two laps remaining. Bradley Ray finished second on his McAMS Yamaha, with Ryde third, while Ryan Vickers (Honda) and Max Cook (bimota) completed the top five.
Ryde then hit back in the finale, winning a thrilling last-lap battle with Ray and Redding. The trio traded positions throughout the race before Ryde edged Ray to the line by just 0.160 of a second, with Redding third. Vickers was fourth and Cook fifth.
Despite Redding’s two victories, Ryde leaves the Netherlands with his championship advantage increased to 68 points.
After Assen, Ryde leads on 459 points, ahead of Redding on 391 and Ray on 349. Haslam holds fourth with 294, while Vickers completes the top five on 289.CN
