Mitchell, SD (July 13, 2026) — The City of Mitchell will host the 19th annual Palace City Pre-Sturgis Party on Main Street on Thursday, August 6, from 5 to 10 p.m.
The free, family-friendly event, now in its eighth year downtown after originating at the Klock Werks shop in 2007, kicks off Sturgis Motorcycle Rally season with a free concert, bike parade, vendors, car and bike shows and stunt performances.

Klock Werks Shop Will to Open to Public
Ahead of the party, Klock Werks will open its shop to the public throughout the day, offering tours and hosting visitors. At 8 a.m., the public is invited to join the company’s daily morning meeting, where employees pray together and share weekly wins and compliments.
At 4:45 p.m., Klock Werks will lead a motorcycle ride from the shop down to Main Street, kicking off the event; all riders are welcome.
“This event started right here at our shop back in 2007, and it’s grown into one of the best nights of the year in Mitchell,” said Brian Klock, Klock Werks. “We’re glad to open our doors, give tours, and lead the ride downtown before the whole town kicks off Sturgis together.”

The Corn Palace Plaza Outdoor Stage will host a free concert featuring Turtle Peak Band from 5 to 7 p.m. and headliner Redferrin, known for “Jack and Diet Coke” and “Just Like Johnny,” from 8 to 9:30 p.m. A fitting way to kick off Sturgis season in small-town South Dakota, staged outdoors against the World’s Only Corn Palace. New this year, Gary Michaels, will perform biker magic, hypnosis and comedy throughout the evening, and the Corn Palace CornHole tournament will run between 3rd and 4th avenues.
A car show (301 Rodz) and Shifter Crew bike show will run from 5 to 7 p.m., with awards at 7 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., respectively. The One Wheel Revolution V-Twin Stunt Team will perform three shows (5:45, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.), and Powderhorn Ranch Regulators will hold three Cowboy Fast Draw exhibitions (5:45, 6:45 and 8:30 p.m.). Food, beverage and retail vendors will line 3rd through 5th avenues throughout the evening.

A Kids Zone will run the full event, from 5 to 10 p.m., with Strider Bikes, inflatables, face painting, a mechanical bull, and motorcycle rodeo games accompanied by a fundraiser by Klock Werks for the Strider Bikes Foundation to outfit Volga Schools with a fleet of balance bikes for younger student to learn to ride a bike during their physical education class.

The 2026 Palace City Pre-Sturgis Party is presented by the City of Mitchell, with support from Klock Werks, Jack Daniel’s, All Kids Bike, Miedema Sanitation, 301 Rodz, J&L Harley-Davidson, Law Tigers, Budweiser and other local sponsors.
