Hello from Hangtown! Round two of the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship takes to Prairie City SVRA in Rancho Cordova, California for the Hangtown National. Last week’s winners Hunter Lawrence and Seth Hammaker are looking to establish themselves as the ones to beat but it’s still anyones race with the series in its early stages. Here’s what happened in this morning’s qualifying sessions.

250 MOTO 1

Seth Hammaker absolutely dominated the first 250 moto with a holeshot and a wire-to-wire win. The 250 points leader stole the show early on and sprinted away with the fastest times in the first seven laps of the race. This allowed him to create a gap over second place and manage the race from the front. That’s another moto of maximum points for the current points leader.

Levi Kitchen crossed the line in second in 25o moto one. The Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider started outside the top five but slowly chipped away at the lead pack. Kitchen turned up the pace and was the fastest rider on track for the entire second half of the moto. Once again, that’s a Kawasaki 1-2 in the opening moto.

Jo Shimoda finished third for his best moto result of the year. He also came through traffic and made a number of strong passes around Nick Romano and Julien Beaumer to find his spot on the box. Shimoda faced off with Kitchen in the second half of the moto but lost the spot to the Kawasaki rider. Still, this is Shimoda’s strongest finish of the first two rounds.

450MX QUALIFYING

Haiden Deegan came out with a statement as he posted the fastest qualifying time in the first 450 session, but it was Jett Lawrence who ended up on top at the end of the second 450 session. The defending champ set the time to beat and went half a second quicker than anyone else on track. He’ll go to the line first for the first 450 gate drop. Deegan’s time still held up for second overall with Jorge Prado rounding out the top three. Last week’s winner Hunter Lawrence fell in the second session but still clocked fourth ahead of Justin Cooper in fifth.
