Local Hero Steve Lamson Scored Victory Over John Dowd and Mickael Pichon

In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we dial back the clock 30 years to 1996 and that year’s Hangtown National at Prairie City SVRA Park in Rancho Cordova, California. In this photo we view the start of one of the 125cc National motos. Getting a great jump was defending national champ and local hero Steve Lamson (1). It was a very good day for “Lammy”. He went 1-1 on the factory Honda to win the national, his second national win at Hangtown, the first coming in 1992. Also clearly visible in this Kinney Jones shot are Jeff Willoh (73), Cory Keeney (39), Tim Ferry (20), John Dowd (7), Kim Ashkenazi (838), Pedro Gonzalez (147), Steve Herman (56) and Nathan Ramsey (47). This weekend the Pro Motocross Championship will be back at Hangtown for round two of this year’s series.
