Yamaha’s Jimmy Filice Scored the Victory at Bryar Motorsports Park

In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock to June of 1982 and arrive at Loudon, New Hampshire’s Bryar Motorsports Park and the 1982 Loudon Classic Road Racing event. This Michael Pons photo shows the grid for the AMA Formula Two Series (later renamed AMA 250 Grand Prix) final. Loudon was one of the best attended AMA racing events on the calendar in those days, drawing tens of thousands of often raucous fans from across the Northeast. You can see the packed crowd ready to watch the start of the race. On the front row are Sam McDonald (29), Hugh Humble (4), Mark Homchick (32), Craig Morris (58) and Steve Baron (59). On the yellow bike on the second row is Yamaha’s Jimmy Filice (17). Filice went on to win the race over Fred Merkel and Homchick.
