Marc Marquez will travel to Italy for this weekend’s MotoGP round at Mugello after passing a “positive medical check.” The reigning World Champion is recovering from further surgery to his right shoulder to remove two screws that were impacting his radial nerve.

Sources close to Marquez indicate the 33-year-old is fired up to get his title defense back on track after this latest surgery, which caused him to miss his home GP in Barcelona. It’s believed the Catalan had grown so confused by his shoulder issues pre-operation, he had become convinced it was a mental block. Knowing the cause of the issues has given the nine-time champ fresh motivation.
After scoring no points at each of the past two rounds, Marquez sits ninth in the current championship standings, 85 points back of current leader Marco Bezzecchi.
A Ducati statement read: Following a positive medical check, Marc Marquez will travel to Mugello (on Wednesday). He is scheduled for a final trackside assessment on Thursday to secure the fit to race clearance.CN
