This is a press release from IOMTT…

GNAAS provides critical care across the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man. Their specialist doctors and paramedics deliver advanced, emergency-room treatment at the scene of incidents, helping save lives.

As a registered charity, they rely primarily on the generosity of public and corporate supporters to keep their aircraft flying and their teams ready to respond.

Since 2022, they have been delivering life-saving support on the Isle of Man, working in partnership with Manx Care, attending serious incidents and assisting with emergency transfers to specialist hospitals in the UK. To date they have responded to over 75 incidents, supporting both residents and visitors, including those involved in road traffic collisions.

Supporting riders when it matters most

Motorcycle incidents are some of the most serious emergencies GNAAS crews respond to. In 2025 alone, the service attended 91 motorcycle-related road traffic collisions across its regions, highlighting the vital need for rapid, specialist care. During the TT period in particular, having access to this can make a vital difference.

On the Isle of Man, half of their call-outs last year involved motorcyclists, with seven of the 14 incidents attended, being motorcycle collisions, supporting both residents and visiting riders.

These incidents often require the highest level of pre-hospital care. Of those motorcycle call-outs, over half of the patients required a pre-hospital anesthetic (RSI) to manage their airway, all seven received advanced drug interventions, and three required a thoracostomy, a procedure to treat life-threatening chest injuries. This is care that would usually only be available in a hospital setting.
