The Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship kicked off the 2026 season with defending champion Ben Young winning both Saturday and Sunday’s Superbike races at Shannonville Motorsport Park on May 16-17.

Ben Young won both Superbike races at the opening round of the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship at Shannonville Motorsports Park.

On Saturday, Honda-mounted Young came from behind to lead Kawasaki rider Jordan Szoke, who made a run on Young late in the race, but Young crossed the finish line by less than a second.

“I had quite a bit of brake fade near the end,” Szoke said. “I was hoping to stay with Young a little longer, but I had to take it easy. Hopefully, I can stay with him longer tomorrow.”

David MacKay (Honda) finished third and Tomas Casas (Suzuki) fourth. Andrew Van Winkle (Honda) rounded out the top five.

Unfortunately for Szoke, his hope of staying with Young didn’t pan out on Sunday after Young got around the holeshotter, Szoke, and never relinquished the lead.

After Sunday’s win, Young said the weekend was “the best launch of my life.”

Winkle was third for his first career podium. MacKay was fourth.CN
