2026 Ducati Hypermotard V2 and SP First Look and Specifications

Ducati has rolled out the fourth evolution of its high-energy Hypermotard range with two fresh models: the Hypermotard V2 and the up-spec Hypermotard V2 SP. Launched at EICMA, these new machines arrive almost 20 years after the original Hypermotard turned heads with its stripped-back supermoto stance and playful attitude. Ducati says the goal this time was to refine, not reinvent—keeping the raw, hooligan personality while modernizing performance and electronics.

Just like old times! The Hypermotard is back and in for the full treatment for 2026.

Both models share Ducati’s latest 890cc V-twin, the same unit powering the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2. Output is claimed at 120 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and 69 lb-ft of torque at 8,250 rpm, making this the strongest Hypermotard engine to date. Variable intake valve timing broadens the torque curve, and Ducati says 70 percent of peak twist is already on tap at just 3,000 rpm. A six-speed gearbox pairs with the newest Ducati Quick Shift for seamless clutchless shifts in both directions. Shorter final gearing sharpens acceleration and throttle response.

A new aluminum monocoque chassis replaces the old steel trellis frame. The engine serves as a stressed member, while a steel subframe nods to past models. The aluminum swingarm echoes the shape of the Panigale V4’s unit. Ducati claims a 29-pound weight reduction versus the outgoing Hypermotard 950.

Suspension separates the two trims: the base V2 gets fully adjustable Kayaba components, while the SP steps up to Öhlins NIX 30 forks and an STX 46 rear shock. The SP also swaps to forged wheels for reduced unsprung mass. Both bikes run 17-inch wheels and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires, though the SP is ready for slicks. Brembo brakes handle stopping duties, with M4.32 calipers on the standard bike and M50s on the SP.

A six-axis IMU backs a full electronics suite, including cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie mitigation, engine brake control, and multiple ride modes. The SP adds launch control and a pit limiter. A new 5-inch TFT dash manages settings and offers road or track layouts.

Styling draws heavily from the original Hypermotard—with underseat dual exhausts, a slim waist, and a tall, wide-bar riding position. Seat height is 34.6 inches, with a lower option available.
