2026 Kawasaki Z1100 SE ABS First Look and Specifications

Rennie Scaysbrook | October 7, 2025

Kawasaki has unveiled the new 2026 Z1100 SE ABS, an evolution of its “Sugomi”-inspired supernaked platform that replaces the long-running Z1000. With updated styling, a larger engine, and an expanded suite of electronics, the Z1100 SE marks Kawasaki’s re-entry into the big bore sports nakedbike category.

Welcome back, Kawasaki. The new Z1100 will go head to head with Honda and Kawasaki, but is still not up to the specs of Ducati and BMW.

Priced at $14,999 MSRP, the Z1100 packs a new 1,099cc inline-four, developed from the old Z1000’s architecture but with revised intake ports, new cam profiles, and piston design. The longer stroke improves torque delivery through the midrange, with claimed output around 134 horsepower and 84 lb-ft of torque, which puts it on par with compatriots like the Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the Honda CB1000 Hornet. You’ll also get an up and down quickshifter for the six-speed gearbox and assist-and-slipper clutch as standard.

The cockpit will be familiar to anyone who has ridden a Z900 before, although the new dash looks pretty cool.

The SE runs Brembo M4.32 front brake calipers, braided steel brake lines, and an Öhlins S46 rear shock with remote preload adjustment that has been used on several Kawasaki models over the last decade. Suspension up front remains a 41mm Showa SFF-BP fork, now tuned for sharper response and improved comfort.

Electronics have been brought fully up to date, with a six-axis IMU managing lean-sensitive ABS, traction control, and cornering management functions. Four riding modes of Sport, Road, Rain, and Rider adjust power delivery and intervention levels. A new five-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and navigation via Kawasaki’s Rideology app rounds out the cockpit.

Styling remains rooted in the aggressive Sugomi philosophy but with updated bodywork, new LED lighting, and a revised fuel tank shape for improved ergonomics. A slightly wider handlebar offers more leverage at low speeds and during corner entry.

The 2026 Z1100 is hitting the ground running quite early as it’s available now in Metallic Matte Graphenesteel or Gray/Metallic Matte Carbon Gray colorways.
