The 88th Bol d’Or at Paul Ricard in France delivered one of the most dramatic finales in FIM Endurance World Championship history, September 20-21.

Entering the 24-hour showdown level on points, BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team and Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team faced a straight fight for the 2025 title. With less than 30 minutes to run and with the title seemingly secure, the BMW team’s M 1000 RR began smoking, dashing its hopes of a maiden crown and opening the door for YART to take the 2025 crown.

YART celebrates an unlikely win in the 2025 Endurance World Championship crown.

“Until the finish line nothing is done,” said YART team manager Mandy Kainz. “I want to say I am very sorry to the BMW team; they made an awesome job and were so unlucky. It’s unbelievable, to be honest. They would also deserve to win. We had bad luck in Suzuka, now came a lot of luck our way.”

Yoshimura SERT Motul dominated the race from the seventh hour and claimed a third consecutive Bol d’Or win, but the championship slipped away by a single point. YART’s consistency—victory at the Le Mans 24 Hour and a podium at Spa—proved decisive, giving Marvin Fritz, Karel Hanika and Jason O’Halloran their second World title in three years.

Superstock teams played a starring role as AutoRace Ube Racing Team’s late retirement allowed Champion-MRP-Tecmas and Kaedear-Dafy-RAC 41 Honda to complete the overall podium. Despite a sensor issue and a long pitstop, the number-nine Champion-MRP-Tecmas BMW fought back to secure the Superstock victory, with Hannes Soomer, Balint Kovacs, Loris Cresson and Jan-Ole Jaehnig leading the charge. National Motos Honda FMA, with Johan Nigon, Guillaume Raymond and Valentin Suchet, took the Superstock title.

ERC Endurance’s campaign ended in flames after David Checa’s fiery crash, while ELF Marc VDS Racing, Team LRP Poland, Wojcik Racing, F.C.C. TSR Honda France and Kawasaki Webike Trickstar also failed to finish.

In the new FIM Endurance World Trophy, ARTEC #199 triumphed over Team Super Moto Racing, while Moto Ain secured the entry-level production class win.CN
