2025 NGPC Round 4 Results

Mark Kariya | April 7, 2025

The Desert Motorcycle Club’s inaugural Moto Oasis Grand Prix was all about “getting back.” As round four of the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA National Grand Prix Championship (NGPC) Series, Presented by FMF, the series got back to the Mesquite MX Park for the first time in several years. After taking a loss at round three, FMF KTM Factory Off-Road Racing Team’s Dante Oliveira got back on top of the box. Liqui Moly Beta’s Dare DeMartile got back on the podium in second—his first visit since also getting second at round one. And Slam Life Racing (SLR) Honda’s Tyler Lynn—the round-three winner—got back into the USA to get third after winning the always-grueling SCORE San Felipe 250 down in Baja California the day before with teammates Ryan Surratt and Carter Klein.

However, Oliveira had to work for it.

“Rookie move! I’ve been sucking on my starts lately and made it hard for myself, but it was good [in the end],” he said. Once he got his Red Bull/Dunlop/Alpinestars-backed 450 XC-F going, he was last—but not for long.

Holeshot winner Giacomo Redondi and his Pro Circuit/Precision Coatings Kawasaki ceded the early lead to Mateo Oliveira, the other half of the FMF KTM team. After leading a couple laps on his Motorex/Renthal/100% 450 XC-F, he and Lynn tangled, both going down. That left Mateo with a bent bike as well as broken rhythm and he slipped back to an eventual fourth in class.

On the other hand, Monster Energy/Lava Propane/Fly Racing CRF450RX-mounted Lynn seemed to have no such trouble and managed to recover quickly enough to lead the field for a couple of laps as well.

He said, “Racing San Felipe yesterday and coming here today, the wind was out of my sails just a little bit—just a little out of energy…but I just tried to push through it and passed into the lead.”

But that pull at the front lasted only until he hit a hidden rock in the sand and crashed heavily, giving DeMartile and his Bridgestone/Acerbis/FXR 480 RR the lead, with Dante Oliveira later able to make his own bid for the front successful and lead the last 30-plus minutes of the 90-minute, $8000 feature event.

“It was a fun day on the track—good course with a good mix of everything,” Dante said. “It was pretty enjoyable to race on.”

Mason Semmens at 2025 Mesquite NGPC
Mason Semmens was a bit slow off the line but quickly worked his way to the front of the Pro II class for the win. He was also fourth overall.

FMF/RPM Racing KTM’s Mason Semmens earned both fourth overall and the Pro II victory, his third of the season. Though his start wasn’t the best, he also made up ground quickly—something he credited to stiffening the suspension on his AEO Powersports/Precision Concepts/Moose Racing 250 XC-F, allowing him to really attack in the early going.

“It’s only 90 minutes—you know what I mean? I feel like you can get away with a little stiffer setting,” he said. “[But] like I said [on the podium], the last 30 minutes kind of caught up with me.”

By then, however, he’d built a comfortable enough lead over the rest of the Pro IIs that he could afford to back off the pace a little. His total time of an hour, 41 minutes and 39 seconds was just eight seconds faster than Mateo Oliveira’s time, with Redondi six seconds behind the younger Oliveira for sixth overall.

Dante Oliveira’s third win of the season padded his points lead over Lynn, 108-90. Mateo sits third at 85 followed closely by DeMartile at 83 and Redondi on 73.

Mikayla Nielsen at 2025 Mesquite NGPC
Fresh off her recent trip to Australia, Mikayla Nielsen led from start to finish in the Pro Women’s class.

Pro II riders Sam Pretscherer and Cole Zeller were next in the overall picture. 3Bros/Hatch Racing/Troy Lee Designs Husqvarna’s Pretscherer had a decent start, but it took him almost an hour to move past the others and into the class runner-up spot. Zeller, on the other hand, found his way toward the front quicker, and consistently ran second or third all afternoon on his Gainslinger Human Performance/Lake Elsinore Casino/O’Neal Racing FC 250.

The remainder of the top 10 (and a little beyond that) were also Pro IIs with round-one winner Colton Aeck on his Hatch Racing/McCarthy Electric/O’Neal Racing KX250 and holeshot winner Kai Aiello aboard his 3Bros/Hatch Racing/Fox Racing Husky rounding out the top 10 overall.

Ryan Stice at 2025 Mesquite NGPC
Ryan Stice (pictured) made it three in a row in NGPC Super Mini, with NGPC 85cc Senior winner Konner Wolfe second overall in their combined race.

By now over her jet lag following her return from Australia where she helped the U.S. team take second in an international women’s MX team race, Mikayla Nielsen dominated the Pro Women’s division aboard her Progressive/Maxima/Alpinestars CRF250RX.

“The experience was so fun [followed by] getting back in training for [NGPCs],” she shared. “It’s been a fun month.”

Ava Silvestri tried to keep pace but became distracted when she noticed what she thought might be the shock going out. It turned out that she lost all the subframe bolts on her 395 Motorsports/Racer Decal/Troy Lee Designs GasGas EX 250F, and the only thing keeping the whole assembly somewhat attached was the FMF exhaust! Somehow, it stayed together so she could chalk up second place followed by desert specialist Ty Woolslayer and her Woolslayer Racing/Precision Concepts/Pure Adrenaline YZ250FX.
