Beta says its all-new-from-the-ground-up 450 RX motocross bike has been in the works for more than four years, but now it’s here and is expected to be available to the public in December with a $10,999 MSRP.
Beta, a company known more for its trials and enduro motorcycle, says the 450 RX’s fuel-injected four-stroke engine has been designed specifically for motocross. The counter-balanced four-valve engine uses a five-speed transmission with a hydraulically operated diaphragm clutch that Beta says has three adjustments “to obtain that perfect balance of grip and progressiveness.” The engine is also fitted with two specific engine maps (for wet and dry conditions) and four levels of traction control. A button on the handlebar controls both engine mapping and TC levels. The lubrication system uses separate compartments for engine and transmission oil.
The engine resides in a steel frame with an aluminum subframe. The air filter is serviced via a quick-access side panel, and the seat is easily removed via a push button. Fuel capacity is 1.8 gallons.
The 450 RX uses Kayaba suspension components, which includes a 48mm fork. Both fork and shock are fully adjustable. Nissin handles braking. Beta says, “The front brake caliper is a smaller, more modern design and provides the latest in braking technology.”
