KTM has taken the wraps off its latest adventure weapon, the $21,499 MSRP 2024 KTM 890 Adventure R Rally.
Limited to 700 units worldwide and ready for preorder at KTM.com from September 20, the R Rally uses the 890 Adventure R as its base but ramps things up to 11 for more off-road capability that world travelers and weekend warriors are going to love with plenty of KTM PowerParts accessories thrown at it.
Chief among these mods is the WP XPLOR PRO 7548 fork with its Cone Valve technology and the WP XPLOR PRO 6746 shock offering 10.6 inches of wheel travel front and back. That’s 1.2 inches more over the suspension found on the base model Adventure R.
The rider gets the new race-specific Rally seat, rally footpegs and the wheels are now heavy-duty 2.15 x 21 and 4.0 x 18 Excel units, and there’s greater engine protection and a new rear master-cylinder guard. A carbon tank guard is also present to save the low-slung tank from when you bash into any rocks.
The 890cc parallel-twin of the Adventure R remains but the Rally R will get a new Akrapovic slip-on muffler for a bit more bark as well as a 35 percent drop in weight. Getting the drive to the dirt is a new Supersprox-Stealth rear sprocket, although gearing is unchanged.
The Adventure R Rally get redesigned graphics with more orange and less black so it’ll be plainly clear which camp you’re representing.
As for the electronics, there’s the five-inch TFT that houses turn-by-turn navigation, all the riding modes you’d expect including the Off Road mode for power and ABS, traction control wheelie control, etc. Everything that’s on the Adventure R is present on the Rally.
KTM is also giving 34 buyers of the 2024 KTM 890 Adventure R Rally the chance to join the KTM Ultimate Desert Experience, a four-day epic across Morocco with access to a fully-prepped 890 Adventure R Rally, accommodation, meals and ride guide for $5400—but only if you’re one of the 700 that buys the Rally.
