In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 20 years to August of 2003 and zero in on Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas. This photo shows the start of the Formula USA K&N Filter Pro Dirt Track Series round four. Honda teammates Terry Poovey (No. 1) and Bryan Smith (No. 42) got great starts on their factory-backed Hondas. Davey Durelle (No. 58K) also got a solid launch on his Honda. In the end it was Poovey, who was about to turn 45 at the time, using his experience to race to victory over Durelle and Nick Cummings. Smith finished fourth but led the series standings after the race.
