2023 Tri-Counties Fairgrounds Speedway Results
| July 11, 2023
Speedway racing visited the remote city of Bishop, California, located a short drive south of the famous ski resort Mammoth Mountain. The get-together at the Tri-Counties Fairgrounds was a full one and felt more like a “Moto-Fest” than a straight-up speedway race. And you could measure its success by the fact that approximately 20 percent of the entire city showed up.

In addition to regular speedway racing, a variety of other types of classes provided entertainment for the fans, from pee-wees to sidecars and a “locals only” hooligan race.
On the speedway side, some of the top runners were National Under-21 Champion Slater Lightcap, Broc Nicol and Dillon Ruml. All three National champs over the last three years in various classes.
Lightcap, Ruml, Nicol and Michael Wells made it to the final in the Premier Speedway class.
Lightcap left the gate in the lead and looked to be a runaway winner, but Nicol took a massive drive to get past Lightcap on the last lap to take the win and leave ex-National champ Ruml in a very uncharacteristic third. Wells rounded out the field.
In the pee-wees, it was Zayne Carillo taking the win over Zaidyn Santana and Bryleigh Hill.
The last race of the night was the “run what you brung” Hooligan event, and there were more than 10 bikes going for it on the eighth-mile oval for the win. At the end, it was Brad Spencer, Pat Foster and Michael VanWinkle taking home the trophies after going 1-2-3.
