Racers enjoyed the ideal weather conditions as the main event started off with Beta’s “Mad Max” Fernandez getting the holeshot. McDonal and GasGas rider Ryan Quinn were in close pursuit. However, Fernandez and McDonal would pull away from the rest of the field as they battled it out for the lead.
On lap two, McDonal emerged from the woods all alone.
Eventually, Fernandez appeared after having smashed his exhaust pipe on a stump. Still, his Beta wouldn’t quit, and he actually started gaining ground on the leader, McDonal, while Quinn had his hands full in third trying to keep local favorite Ethan Ficklin, also aboard a Beta, at bay.
But AA rider Nathan Dulaney was sneaking up from behind and would eventually catch both Quinn and Ficklin and pass them on adjusted time.
Meanwhile, up front, McDonal maintained the lead pace, even though Fernandez clocked the quickest lap of the race. McDonal held on to take the win, followed by Fernandez and Dulaney (Dulaney Motorsports/Yamaha), who was the top A-class rider.
Team Perfect Storm’s Kenito Held (Suzuki RM-Z250) was the top B Rider.
In the morning C race, Rider Sigety (Yamaha), aboard his Supermini, was the overall winner. Sigety also topped Saturday’s Youth main event.
