The motocross world was rocked earlier this year with the deaths of Marty Smith and his wife Nancy, who perished in an ATV accident at the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area Dunes (Glamis Dunes) in Imperial County, California, on April 27, 2020.
Smith, 63, was a three-time AMA Pro Motocross Champion and a factory rider with Team Honda and later Suzuki, winning two 125cc National titles in 1974 and 1975, and the 500cc title in 1977.
Smith retired from the sport in 1981 and was inducted to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2000.
This video, written and directed by Todd Huffman, shows just how important Marty and Nancy were to the sport of motocross, with legends like Jeff Ward, Broc Glover, Bob Hannah, and David Bailey, among others, paying heartfelt tribute.
