This is a press release from Kawasaki…

Salt Lake City (June 15, 2020) – Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner made a statement at the penultimate round of the Western Regional 250SX with a come-from-behind win to capture his fourth win of the season. His win inched him closer in the points to place him just seven points back of the leader with one round remaining. Teammate Cameron McAdoo also had a solid night aboard his Kawasaki KX250, finishing just off the podium in fourth.

The night started out a little tough with Forkner having to come back in his heat race after getting tangled up just after the first turn. He was able to get back up to fourth and still have a decent gate pick for the main event.

In the main, he found himself fourth on the start and quickly making a charge to the front. By Lap 5 he was into second and started to close the gap to the front. He was patient and while the track was very one-lined, he was able to find his opening for the lead on Lap 15 and held on until the checkered flag.

“After a few rounds where I was caught and passed by Dylan, it was my turn to catch him and get around him,” said Forkner. “It felt totally different to chase him down and there really weren’t a lot of places to make a move since everyone was running pretty much the same lines. I had a small opportunity and I knew I had to take it. I know he would have done the same thing, and has done the same thing. It’s awesome to be in contention for the championship as we head into the final race next week. We’ll see what happens.”

McAdoo continued to prove his place at the front of the pack in Salt Lake City. He was running really quick in his heat race – where he finished second – which translated into the main. He tucked in behind his teammate at the start and came around fifth after the opening lap. McAdoo had made it up to third at one point but was battling to maintain position. He eventually finished the 15 minutes plus one lap main event in fourth place, just one second back of the final podium spot.

“It was tough to see that podium finish slip away because we’ve been working really hard to be up there every time we hit the track,” said McAdoo. “I know I have been riding well and I will take that with me to the final race, but another podium finish would have been sweet to push through the week. Now we’ll have to get back at it and make sure we come out ready to fight for it next Sunday.”
