Cycle News Staff | March 27, 2020
On March 25, 2020, just one day after announcing the appointment of a new president, Tucker Powersports was forced to furlough several staff members due to the sharp decrease in business amid the Covid-19 pandemic. We have been told that it is as many as 150 staff that are part of the furlough and Tucker hopes to be able to rehire them when business picks back up. The staff was told on a conference call and via a follow-up letter that the furlough will last until at least April 30th and the business conditions will be reevaluated at that time.
Tucker is a large Powersports distribution company that also owns several brands including Pro Taper, Answer, Firtsgear, Speed and Strength, BikeMaster, Bully Locks, CoverMax, Twin Power, Biker’s Choice, Dragonfire Racing, QuadBoss and Skid Lid. It is believed that employees at most of these companies have been impacted.
Below is the information that Tucker Powersports shared with their dealers.
Dear Valued Tucker Dealer:
Because of the business impact of COVID-19, we’re adapting our business to this rapidly changing environment, and we know you are as well.
In an email last week, we advised you we are offering an enhanced drop ship program and turnkey social media assets to help you reach out to customers. In addition, we will continue our marketing efforts to make certain that your customers are ready to hit the road or the trail as soon as this is over.

Staffing Changes
This week, Tucker furloughed several employees from throughout the company, including members of our sales support staff. We plan to invite all these employees back to work as soon as we move past the coronavirus epidemic and business returns to normal. Rest assured, Tucker remains open and ready to support our dealers and retailers during this difficult time.
We’ve adjusted assignments in our internal sales team, however none of our field sales representatives were impacted by the furloughs. You’ll hear a familiar voice when your field rep contacts you. Watch your email for an introduction to the internal sales team.
Distribution Centers Adjust Hours
We have scaled back warehouse hours but will continue to provide excellent service to you and we will continue to offer to drop ship directly to your customers to help during this time.
Tucker Dealer Connect
We want to make sure you get the information you need to keep your dealership operating and successful. To keep you informed during the rapid changes we are all going through, we’ve created a new Dealer Connect page specifically for our customers. Here we’ll post the latest information about Tucker operations and you will be able to access it at all times. The web address is dealer.tucker.com/dealer-connect. It feels like things are changing every day and we want to do our best to keep you up-to-date.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to working closely with you through these rapidly changing times.
