Throwback Thursday: Mark Brelsford Leads Daytona Short Track

Cycle News Photo Collection

In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 51 years to 1969 and that year’s Daytona Short Track at the old Memorial Stadium. This photo shows Mark Brelsford (No. 87) leading a group that includes Sid Carlson (No. 73), Robert Hinkle (No. 40), Keith Mashburn (30X) and others. There were extra Short Track races at Daytona that year since the Daytona 200 got rained out and was rescheduled for a week later. Short track races gave the racers and fans that stayed something to do in the interim. The old short track races over the years eventually morph into the Daytona TT that runs today. You can watch the Daytona TT this Saturday at Daytona International Speedway.
