Throwback Thursday: Jarama GP Start 1993

In this week’s Throwback we dial it back 26 years to 1993 and the 500cc Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championship season finale at the Circuito del Jarama just north of Madrid, Spain. In this shot of the start we can see pole winner John Kocinski (No. 3) getting a good launch on his factory Cagiva. Alongside of Kocinski on the front row are the Lucky Strike Suzukis Alex Barros and Kevin Schwantz, as well as Shinichi Itoh on the Rothmans Honda. Barros went on to win the race, scoring the first GP victory of his career. Doug Chandler can be seen on the outside of row two on his No. 5 factory Cagiva.
