Throwback Thursday: Honda’s MotoGP Riders Celebrate Honda’s 50th Anniversary in Grand Prix Racing
In this week’s Throwback we rewind the clock just a decade to 2009. That year the Honda Motor Company, the most prolific force in the history of grand prix racing, celebrated 50 years in the sport with a low-key affair at the Twin Ring Motegi Hotel on Friday night before the Japanese Grand Prix. On hand for the celebration were Honda’s riders in MotoGP that season. The riders lined up for a photo in front of the crowd. From left to right are Randy de Puniet (LCR Honda), Toni Elias (San Carlo Honda Gresini), Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda), Alex de Angelis (San Carlo Honda Gresini) and Yuki Takahashi (Scot Racing Team). There were speeches from company officials and visiting dignitaries – Dorna’s CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta and the FIM’s Vito Ippolito – but the stars of the show were the bikes and riders.
