Throwback Thursday: Green Flag at Pomona
In this week’s Throwback we head back 22 years to 1996 and the second round of that year’s AMA Grand National Championship at the Pomona (CA) Fairplex Half-Mile. Pomona was a great venue with thousands of people who worked in the motorcycling industry attending. This is the start of the 25-lap national and it’s a field packed with talent. Blasting off the line at the drop of the green flag on the front row are Rich King (80), Jay Springsteen (9), Dave Camlin (27), Ricky Graham (3), Scott Parker (1) and Will Davis (21). On the second row you can see Kevin Atherton (23), Terry Poovey (18), Aaron Hill (17) and Kevin Varnes (89). Like I said a stacked field. Harley-Davidson’s Parker went on to win the race over Davis and Graham.
