2017 Atlanta Supercross Qualifying: Qualifying is over in Atlanta, and the racers and fans are preparing for the final race inside the storied Georgia Dome. And at least so far, the results down south are very similar to how they were last week up north in Minneapolis, at least at the very top of the field.

In the 450cc class, once again, it was all about Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac, who was the only racer to drop into the 50s with a 50.736.

Behind Tomac, though, came Monster Energy/Yamalaube/Chaparral/Yamaha’s Chad Reed. Reed has said for a very long time that he prefers large whoops, and he’s got those in Atlanta. Behind Reed come four KTMs and a Husqvarna, with Marvin Musquin, Ryan Dungey, Blake Baggett, Trey Canard, and then the Husky of Dean Wilson, followed by Honda’s Cole Seely, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson, and Ride365 Suzuki’s Malcolm Stewart. It’s interesting how things have changed in supercross, with only four of the top-10 qualifiers fielding Japanese race bikes…

In the 250cc class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy put himself on the top of the board with a 52.099, just in front of GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne, Savatgy’s teammate Adam Cianciarulo, and Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Colt Nichols making up the top-five.

Behind them came Nichols’ teammate Dylan Ferrandis, last week’s runner-up Jordon Smith, Yamaha-backed Luke Renzland, Smith’s TLD/Red Bull KTM teammate Alex Martin, and Craig’s teammate RJ Hampshire.

Racing starts at 7 p.m. EST on FS1, if the NASCAR Xfinity race from Daytona finishes before go-time.
