MONTEREY, CA, JULY 18—Canadian Braeden Ortt held off Anthony Mazziotto III at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to take home his second-straight MotoAmerica KTM RC390 Cup victory in the series inaugural season.

Series newcomer Xavier Zayat worked his way from dead last to join the pair on the podium. Zayat ran off track in turn two after Hayden Schultz made contact with him.

It was a tight battle for fourth and it went to Alejandro Gutierrez Mejia who edged out Josh Serne by a mere .03 of a second. Jody was sixth ahead of Brandon Altmeyer who got shuffled back in the battle.

Gabe Miller was eighth and rounding out the top 10 was Christopher Kosan and Ashton Wright.

Series-points leader Gage McAllister needed just three points to clinch the title, but unfortunately the Northern Californian went out early while leading the race when his chain broke. As a result, McAllister’s healthy points lead dropped down to just 22 points over Ortt going into the final round in New Jersey.
