Today at Le Mans was Dani Pedrosa’s first day back on his Repsol Honda RC213V. The Spaniard spent six-weeks on the sidelines to recover from another arm pump surgery. Although Pedrosa spent some time on a Supermoto bike before this weekend’s French Grand Prix and felt fine, the real test was clearly going to be back on the GP machine.
So how was his arm faring? He wouldn’t exactly say…
“I’m tired in general today,” Pedrosa said. “It’s been a little bit difficult the first day. To get back to the feeling, the speed, the tires, the bike. I didn’t remember the bike was that fast [he said with a laugh]. And actually at the beginning I had a hard time. Everybody was passing me in the first laps. In the afternoon I was going a little bit better in general—speed wise and physically. But I still need time and I need some rest to see, to recover for tomorrow.”
Pedrosa ended the day seventh.
