Honda announced yesterday that Justin Barica will miss the remaining rounds of the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season to undergo surgery to correct a chronic ankle issue. Barcia was a last minute scratch at this past weekend’s round of the series in Lakewood, Colorado, and after seeing a doctor yesterday, made the decision to have the surgery.

“I’ve consulted with several doctors and they all agree that this surgery is the only way to fix the problem,” said Barcia. “I cannot wait to ride without pain and I will do everything I can to come back with a vengeance.”

Barcia was 11th in the 450-class standings before missing this past weekend, after finishing 13th overall at Glen Helen and sixth overall at Hangtown.
