Rik Smits, the 7’4″ Indiana Pacers Great Back for More EnduroCross

Aiming to repeat his Vet class podium performance in Indianapolis!

Irvine, CA (August 22, 2011) – During last year’s first ever GEICO AMA EnduroCross, presented by Lucas Oil event held in Indianapolis, IndyMoto sponsored rider,  Rik Smits, put on a podium performance in the Vet class that was one of the highlights of the entire season for the Amateur class. The 7′ 4″ Smits is a motorcycle fanatic that makes a full size KTM look like a Mini Bike and he used his long legs as rudders to help him navigate the extremely difficult EnduroCross course and finish third with the crowd on their feet cheering him on throughout the main. Having an Arena full of Indianapolis locals cheering his every move is not new for Smits though as he had a very successful career as a professional NBA player. He spent his entire 12 season career as a star of the Indiana Pacers before retiring after the 99-2000 season. He now spends much of his time competing in motorcycle events and this Friday, August 26th he will be back in the Pepsi Coliseum, which is located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds aiming for another trip to the podium.
