Tyler Bowers recorded his fourth consecutive win in the 2011 AMA Arenacross Championship after taking top honors in Sacramento, California, at the ARCO Arena, Saturday, February 26. The Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLUBE Kawasaki rider dominated the 25-lap main event, while Tiger Lacey, on the Hillsboro Motorsport Kawasaki, recorded his third win in a row in the Arenacross Lites class.
Bowers felt little challenge in the main event. He got out in front early and pulled away from the pack, eventually taking the win nine seconds over teammate Chad Johnson. Team Faith Yamaha’s Kelly Smith finished third for his best finish of the season.
The win was Bowers’ sixth of the season, and he now enjoys a 22-point lead over TUF Honda’s Jeff Gibson, who finished a season-worst sixth.Lacey, who joined the series last week in Reno, Nevada, where he won both nights, continued his winning streak in Sacramento. After passing Mob Syndicate Kawasaki rider Gared Steinke early in the race, Lacey steadily stretched out his lead over the rest of the field to take his third win in a row.
Arenacross Lites West points leader Chad Cook finished second, followed by Crater Racing Honda’s Jerry Lymburner. History was made at this race, as Vicki Golden became the first female to qualify for an Arenacross Lites class main event. In the main event, the Resner Builders Hardware Honda-backed rider stalled her motorcycle and ended up finishing outside the top 10.The AMA Arenacross Series continues next weekend from its inaugural race from Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas.Sacramento Arenacross Results: February 26, 2011.AMA ARENACROSS:
