The Bonver Grand Prix of Czech Republic turned out to be another hard-fought round of the 2010 FIM Motocross World Championship, as Tony Cairoli (MX1) and Marvin Musquin (MX2) each came away with overall wins in their respective classes at the Loket Circuit, August 8. Both riders, who are leading their respective championships, have a chance to wrap up titles at the next round in Brazil.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Cairoli extended his current winning streak to three. The Italian finished second to Tanel Leok in the first moto, but made up for that in the second, leading the whole moto. Cairoli is now heading towards his second MX1 World title, as he leads the MX1 series with an 84 point advantage with three rounds to go.

Taking second overall was Clement Desalle of Rockstar Teka Suzuki team. Desalle struggled at the start of moto one and was then forced to recover to an eventual third place. The Belgian took a much better start in the final moto but could not close the gap on Cairoli and ended runner-up to the Italian.

Leok, on LS Motors Honda, was on route to win his second Grand Prix of 2010 after he beat Cairoli in moto one. A crash in the final moto hampered Leok’s classification but the Estonian found his way through the pack and recovered to an eventual fifth, making it to the overall podium by six points.

KTM Red Bull’s Musquin and Teka Suzuki’s Ken Roczen battled hard for the MX2-class victory, and it was Musquin ending on top courtesy of his victory in the final moto.

Roczen, who won moto one, finished second in moto two for second overall.

Celebrating his second podium the season, Yamaha Monster Energy’s Gautier Paulin was the third man on the Czech podium. Recovering from a bad start in moto one, Paulin took an eventual sixth but earned the podium with a solid third place in the final moto.

American Zach Osborne is still feeling the effects of a crash and subsequent concussion he suffered will competing in the British Championship a few weeks ago. Osborne went 11-8 on the day for ninth overall.
