Davies To World Supersport

Welshman Chaz Davies has inked a three-race deal to race the ParkinGO Triumph 675 in the final three rounds of the World Superport Championship after testing the bike on Tuesday in Mugello in Italy. Davies will make his racing debut on the bike at Imola in Italy on September 27.Davies raced a Factory Aprilia Millennium Technologies RSV in this year’s AMA Daytona SportBike Series where he ended up ninth in the championship with two second-place finishes along the way.Davies will ride join the team as a teammate to Australian Garry McCoy and will replace Gianluca Nannelli.”I would like to thank Giuliano [Rovelli, the team manager] and the team for this opportunity,” Davies said in a team release. “This is my first chance to ride in the WSS Championship and I am excited to experience it and give it my best shot. I’ve watched ParkinGO Triumph BE1 Racing Team’s results progress and I think that between the team and myself we can aim for strong results on the three cylinder Triumph.”The highlight of Davies AMA career came in 2008 when he won the Daytona 200 on an Attack Kawasaki after his friend and sometimes roommate Josh Hayes was disqualified.
