Things started a little damp today at the two-ay IRTA MotoGP test at Jerez in Spain, but once things dried up the pace picked up and no one ended up faster than Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo, the Fiat Yamaha rider besting his teammate Valentino Rossi.The two-day test is highlighted by a 45-minute timed session tomorrow afternoon in which the fastest man gets the keys to a BMW car. The season, meanhile, gets underway at Qatar on April 12.Lorenzo lapped at 1:39.791 to best Rossi’s 1:39.861, the pair of Yamahas ahead of Marlboro Ducati’s Casey Stoner.Chris Vermeulen had a good day on the Rizla Suzuki, clocking the fourth quickest time.The best of the Americans was Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Colin Edwards, the Texan ending the day with the fifth quickest time. Marlboro Ducati’s Nicky Hayden, meanwhile, ended up ninth.
