DAYTONA BEACH, FL, DEC 6: The second day of the Daytona Dunlop tire test is expected to kick off at 1:00 p.m. after unexpected overnight and morning rains put all track activity at Daytona International Speedway on hold until early afternoon, at the earliest.

As late as 8 p.m. last night, the forecast was for sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70’s. But when they awoke this morning, the teams taking part in the three-day Dunlop Daytona tire test were greeted with a light rain that stopped mid-morning.

The morning session for Daytona SportBikes, which is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to noon, was a wash-out. The day will resume with American Superbikes, which are scheduled to be on track from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Daytona SportBikes will go back out for the night session from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The schedule is similar for Sunday, but without a night session.

The first day of the test ended with American Honda’s Neil Hodgson topping the American Superbike class and Yamaha’s Ben Bostrom on top of Daytona SportBike.
