Ricky Carmichael Steps Up

It shouldn’t have come as a surprise, since the word “lose” isn’t in Carmichael’s vocabulary. In the first round of the Navy Moto X World Championships Step Up competition today, he simply blew the competition away.

The first round of the Moto X Step Up just concluded, and riders Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, Brian Deegan, Ricky Carmichael, Todd Potter and Robbie Maddison all competed for a chance to compete tomorrow against the former X Games gold medalists. The original plan was to take only one rider, but the absence of Jeremy McGrath leaves two spots open. McGrath reportedly injured the top of his femur and won’t be competing in any Moto X competitions.

Right from the start, Carmichael looked completely dominant in the Step Up. He effortlessly over-cleared the bar on every attempt, while other riders needed multiple attempts to advance each round. At a final height of 29 feet, Carmichael cleared the bar once again to advance to tomorrow’s Step Up. Joining him in the final will be Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, who also cleared a height of 29 feet.
