Pat Garrahan Tops National Enduro Opener

The AMA FMF Racing National Enduro Series got off to snowy, not to mention late, start in Coalinga, California, last weekend, and KTM rider Patrick Garrahan came away with the chilling win.

Three inches of snow fell the Saturday night before the ride, which caused an hour-and-a-half start delay and the third loop being tossed out, but when the first rider left at 9:30 a.m., the competitive action quickly heated up. Garrahan and defending champ KTM’s Mike Lafferty went back and forth all day, trading top scores at the checks, and the two finished off the abbreviated ride tied at 16 points each, but Garrahan came away with the victory via the tie-breaker scores.

Third place went to Gas Gas-mounted Fred Hoess who hails from New Jersey and is no stranger to wet and cold conditions. Fourth went to Virginia’s Stephen Edmondson, aboard a KTM, while local favorite KTM rider Billy Russell, who was still feeling the effects of the flu, rounded out the top five overall.

Sixth went to Nick Fahringer (GG), followed by Rich Lafferty (KTM), Russell Bobbitt (KTM), Steve Silvestri (KTM) and Tim Stowe (Suz).
