Carpenter Carves Out Budds Creek Four-Stroke Win

Paul Carpenter topped the opening round of the AMA Fall Classic/Eastern Four-Stroke MX Nationals by Yamaha at Budds Creek MX Park in Budds Creek, Maryland, yesterday. Carpenter, the recently crowned Western Region Four-Stroke Champion, piloted his White Brothers/Honda CRF450R to a strong 2-1 ride, followed by Shenandoah Honda/RRP/MSR/Smith’s Kevin Crine, who went 4-2.

Third overall went to the defending series champion, Kelly Smith, who went 3-4 on the day aboard his 3-D Racing/FMF/Dunlop-backed Yamaha. Crossroad Powersports/RRP/MSR’s Damien Plotts took the first-moto win, but he went down in the second moto, eventually finishing eighth, for fourth overall.

BSY/Pro Circuit/Yamaha’s Jacob Saylor took the 250cc A/Pro win (3-1), followed by Plotts, who went 1-4. Crine was third overall, with 4-2 moto scores. Freedom Motorsports/Thor/Scott-backed Yamaha rider Josh Summey won the 125cc A/Pro class with a consistent 2-2 ride, followed by BSY/Pro Circuit/Yamaha’s Tyson Hadsell, who went 1-3 for second overall. S.M. City Motorsports/Pro Circuit/Tag Metals-backed Yamaha rider Aaron Day was third overall, with 5-4 moto finishes.
