Watts Rules Elsinore Grand Prix

| November 12, 2001

KTM’s Shane Watts pretty much dominated the GFI/Elsinore Grand Prix in Lake Elsinore, California, November 10-11. Watts entered six classes and won five of them, including the premier event, the Harvey Mushman 100 (formerly the Hamel 100). In that race, Watts, riding a 520 EXC four-stroke, won easily over Scott Sheak, who was aboard a Honda CR450R. Third and fourth place went to Suzuki’s Steve Hatch and Rodney Smith, while R.J. Thompson, riding a Suzuki RM125, rounded out the top five.

Finishing in seventh place was Greg Albertyn (Suz).

The only race Watts didn’t win was in the 125cc class, which was won by Thompson.

KTM’s Scot Harden won the Legends race.
