McGrath Wins British SX

| October 1, 2000

Multi-time AMA Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath won the London Supercross today in front of a sellout crowd of 10,000 people. McGrath, who returned from a four-month layoff only two weeks ago, easily won the British event over fellow American Mike Brown with England’s Jamie Dobb in third place.

The London Supercross attracted a sellout crowd of 10.000 people, and despite the fact that several contracted riders failed to appear (due to injury), the night’s action was entertaining. Some of those who failed to ride were Travis Pastrana, who recently injured his knee, and Spanish Freestyle rider Edgar Torrenteros.

McGrath won his heat and the final after quick starts and relentless lap times.

“With the bike I now have,”McGrath said. “I can’t lose. Skip (Norfolk) has done a great job and we only really have a little more work to do and this bike will be ready for the 2001 American season – it’s that good.”

McGrath will appear in England again in two weeks at the Sheffield Supercross.
