More Lampkin

After a near-perfect season last year, Brit Dougie Lampkin is giving all indications of having another stellar season in 2000 – this despite switching teams in the off-season. For the second time in as many weeks, Lampkin won both days of a World Championship Trials Series stop, this one in Pacos de Ferreira, Portugal, yesterday.

The rest of Lampkin’s Montesa/HRC team is nearly as impressive. One week after the team completely owned the podium on both days, Montesa/HRC took all but a single podium position in Portugal. Montesa/HRC riders Marc Colomer and Takahisa Fujinami went two-three on Saturday, and Fujinami was the runner-up on Sunday. Only Fujinama’s Japanese countryman Kenichi Kuroyama, on a Beta, managed to break the Montesa/HRC stranglehold with his third place on Sunday.
