La Habra, CA—6D Helmets, a leader in advanced helmet safety technology—has appointed Matt Ford as Director of Sales, Operations, and Strategic Growth.

Ford will work closely with Bob Weber, co-founder and CEO of 6D Helmets, to lead the company’s sales and operational initiatives, expand the brand’s reach, strengthen its business partnerships, and support strategic growth initiatives globally.

Ford brings more than 30 years of experience in the bicycle industry as a retailer, operator and senior business leader. He founded Rock N Road Cyclery in Southern California in 1992, growing the business into one of the region’s leading specialty bicycle retailers before joining Specialized Bicycle Components following the acquisition of the business.

Most recently, Ford served as Head of Retail Stores for Specialized in North America, where he led a large network of company-owned retail locations across the United States and Canada.

Ford brings a unique relationship between the bicycle and motorcycle communities to 6D. For over 15 years, he’s been instrumental in organizing and hosting the annual A1 Ride Daze, an Orange County cycling tradition. The A1 Ride Daze brought together some of the most recognized athletes from cycling and motorcycle racing to celebrate their shared passion for riding and athleticism, connecting the two worlds. That experience gives Ford a particularly relevant perspective as he joins 6D, a company whose helmet technology and products serve riders across both disciplines of sport.

“Bicycles have been the foundation of my career, but the connection between the bicycle and moto communities has been a part of my life for many years,” said Ford. “Through A1 Ride Daze, I’ve had the opportunity to build relationships with athletes and people throughout the moto industry and see firsthand how closely these two worlds are connected. Whether someone is lining up for a Supercross race, heading out on a mountain bike, or simply enjoying a ride with friends, the helmet is the most important piece of protective equipment they will put on. That makes 6D’s commitment to advancing helmet safety especially meaningful to me.”

Founded in 2011 by Bob Weber and Robert Reisinger, 6D Helmets was created around a mission to advance helmet technology and improve rider protection. The company developed its proprietary Omni-Directional Suspension™ (ODS™) technology, a suspended liner system engineered to manage both angular and linear acceleration forces during impacts.

From its beginnings, 6D has expanded its technology and product portfolio into the bicycle market, creating a natural intersection with Ford’s professional background and long-standing involvement in both communities.

“I’ve spent my career in industries and businesses that I genuinely care about, and 6D represents exactly the kind of opportunity that excites me,” Ford said. “This is a premium brand built around innovation, rider safety, and exceptional products. They maintain strong relationships across their retailer, distributor, and industry partner network. I’m excited to work alongside Bob and the entire 6D team to bring my passion, commitment and professionalism to this exciting next chapter.”

Ford will focus initially on strengthening and expanding relationships with 6D’s existing retailers, distributors, sales representatives, and strategic partners while identifying new opportunities for the brand both domestically and internationally.

“Matt brings the experience, leadership, and industry perspectives we need as we enter this next phase of development and growth,” said 6D CEO Bob Weber. “His proven ability to build teams, strengthen partnerships, operate strategically, and help grow businesses will be instrumental as we expand our reach moving forward.”

“Having spent more than three decades on the retail and business side of the industry, I understand how important strong partnerships are,” Ford added. “Our dealers and distributors aren’t simply customers—they are partners and important components of our everyday business. I’m looking forward to meeting them, listening to them, and understanding how we can better support them as we work to further develop our businesses together.”
