Three new venues are set to highlight this year’s SuperMotocross Playoff rounds as the post-season kicks off after the conclusion of the Pro Motocross Championship. The three-week run of races takes place with the first round in Columbus, Ohio on September 12 followed by Los Angeles, California on September 19, and lastly the World Championship finale at the Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Ridgedale, Missouri on September 23. Today we visited Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles to get a better look at what Playoff #2 will look like.

This location actually has a long history of motorsport events as it previously held the X Games from 2004 to 2009 as the Home Depot Center. During that time, the Jeremy McGrath Supercross Invitational also took place in the stadium as a one-off Supercross race in 2006 and the venue was set to hold the annual Monster Energy Cup back in 2020. SMX is the latest two-wheel sport to take over the venue, before they transition into hosting five different sports during the 2028 Summer Olympics.
“Obviously, we’re on a soccer field, so we’re back in four walls for SMX,” said Bill Heras, Director of Operations for Monster Energy Supercross. “We’ve seen a lot of speedways and drag strips in the past few years. But bringing it home here to LA. We had our inaugural SMX race in LA in 2022. California is the lifeblood of Motocross and Supercross. This is kind of where it all started over 50 years ago so it kind of makes sense to pay homage and get back into the LA market. Obviously, we have a huge fan base here in California.”
“Really excited to welcome SMX here in just a few weeks,” said Adam Duvendeck, General Manager of Dignity Health Sports Park. “We have a rich history I think in in motorsports stemming back from the early 2000’s…We’re excited to welcome dirt back into the stadium which we haven’t had in some time. I think one of the things that we really pride ourselves here is just the versatility that we have here in this campus. So whether it was the X Games or the CrossFit games that we had, we really pride ourselves in our ability to change our facility to whatever the needs of the event are.”
