Launched earlier this year, the FIM Event License is a new license combined with a dedicated insurance product that delivers comprehensive protection for everyone working at or attending FIM motorcycle events across all disciplines and competitions.

The introduction of the FIM Event License is an important milestone in the FIM’s ongoing commitment to improving the safety, security and welfare of the global motorcycling community. While riders have long benefited from the FIM Rider’s Insurance Program, this new initiative recognizes that the successful delivery of every event depends on a much wider network of dedicated individuals whose contribution is equally invaluable.

For the first time, team personnel, mechanics, engineers, officials, volunteers, media representatives, service providers, parents and partners can all benefit from dedicated insurance coverage while carrying out their roles at FIM events. By extending protection beyond the competitors themselves, the FIM is helping to ensure that everyone involved in the organization and operation of motorcycle sport can carry out their responsibilities with greater confidence and peace of mind.

FIM President Jorge Viegas reinforced the importance of this new scheme: “Beyond the riders, it is the dedication and professionalism of countless people that make every FIM event a success. With this new license, we are ensuring that everyone who contributes to our sport can work and participate with the peace of mind that they are protected.”

The FIM Event License provides comprehensive individual insurance coverage during FIM and Continental events, including World Championships, Prizes and Training Camps. Protection extends across all competition-related areas, including paddocks, pit lanes, refueling zones, liaison routes and other designated event spaces, as well as during travel to and from the event.

Available on a voluntary basis and not mandatory for participation, the FIM Event License can be purchased as either an annual or per-event policy. It includes a range of protection options, including medical assistance, repatriation, and death and permanent disability cover, offering practical support should the unexpected occur.

The FIM believes this initiative represents a significant enhancement to the services available to everyone involved in motorcycle sport, reinforcing its commitment to creating a safer and more secure environment for all those who help deliver FIM events around the world.
