FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Grant Davis entered the Honda Hills MX Sprint Enduro in Thornville, Ohio, with plenty of momentum and little pressure, having built a 74-point lead in the series standings over the previous five rounds.

However, the weekend proved anything but predictable. Rising Husqvarna talent Toby Cleveland, already making a name for himself this season, upended expectations with a breakout performance. Storming to the overall win, Cleveland finished 19 seconds ahead of KTM Orange Brigade’s Cooper Jones after two days of racing for the “W.” Surprisingly, Cleveland dominated, winning four of the six tests on Sunday after coming from behind to win Saturday’s race.

“I’m so stoked, I can’t even believe I ended up winning,” said Cleveland. “Hopefully I can do that again in the last round. The weekend went smoothly except for the last two tests. My bike started losing power going into the fifth test, so I just put it in fourth and cruised to the finish. Before the last test, we changed the oil and just prayed it would make it, and it did, but I was struggling. Cooper put in a fast time in the last two tests and almost got me for the day, but yeah, it was a great weekend.”
SaturdayDavis opened Saturday in commanding fashion, setting the benchmark pace in three of the first four tests. But the closing stages proved pivotal as the Pennsylvania rider faltered in the final test. Although both Davis and Cleveland claimed three test wins apiece, it was Cleveland who seized control when it mattered most, charging to victory over Jones. Meanwhile, Davis slipped to third, surrendering valuable ground after a costly late-day setback. At the end of the day, Cleveland outpaced Jones by 15.5 seconds and held off Davis by 17 seconds, capitalizing on the series leader’s crash in the final test.
Husqvarna-mounted Gavin Simon and Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Red Bear Kawasaki Racing’s Will Sievenpiper rounded out the top five. In addition to their top two finishes, Cleveland and Jones also placed first and second in the Pro 2 division, while Sievenpiper topped the Pro-Am class. Am-Pro Yamaha’s Brayden Baisley earned the top Amateur award and first in the 250 A class after finishing eighth on the day.

SundayCleveland got off to a quick start on Sunday by posting the fastest time in test one, three seconds faster than Davis, with Jones in third, another 1.5 seconds back. The top 250 A rider in test one was Brayden Baisley (Yamaha), who posted a brilliant time, landing him fourth for the test, just ahead of top Pro-Am rider Colton Shields (Husqvarna).
Cleveland piled on in test two, dropping a time 2.5 seconds faster than Davis. Jones, Shields and Baisley finished out the top five. Cleveland went on to post up four wins, finishing Sunday’s event with a 3.8-second margin over Jones, who won the final two tests. Simon rounded out Sunday’s podium, while Davis had a devastating final test, finishing 20 seconds off the pace, dropping the KTM rider to seventh for the day.
Cleveland again led the Pro 2 division ahead of Jones, while Sievenpiper and Shields finished fourth and fifth overall for the day and claimed first and second in the Pro-Am division. Baisley earned top Amateur honors and secured the 250 A class win for the second consecutive day.
Cleveland’s two-day performance secured him the win in the final overall results, his second of the season, by 19 seconds over runner-up Jones. Simon was third, followed by Davis in fourth, while Sievenpiper closed out the top five overall and was first in the Pro-Am class.

In the overall class results, Simon, Davis and Ryan Amancio (KTM) went 1-2-3 in the Pro 1 division; Cleveland, Jones and Brody Johnson (Husqvarna) were the top three in the Pro 2 class; and Sievenpiper, Shields and Cole Whitmer (GasGas) completed the podium in the Pro-Am class. The top Amateur of the weekend was Brayden Baisley, the 250 A winner.
Sievenpiper won four tests on Saturday and one on Sunday to secure the Pro-Am overall win.
“Colton brought it on pretty good on Sunday, and we were pretty close all day,” said Sievenpiper. “About halfway through the day, I was able to sneak away a little bit, but going into the last test, Colton and I were within a second or two, and I was able to hold on.”
Davis still holds the series points lead with one round remaining, though his lead has narrowed to 62 points.
In the Pro Women’s Division, FMF KTM’s Brandy Richards claimed a 52-second win over AmPro Yamaha’s Danielle McDonald, with Rieju USA’s Rachel Gutish and Lilley Sheets (Yamaha) finishing third and fourth.
“The tests were a little bit of motocross, some high-speed grasstrack, and just all around fun,” said Richards. “The soil was perfect, too. It got a little challenging toward the end with all the ruts and stuff, but it was a great time. I was able to stay super consistent and got the win.”CN
